Description:
Sea-Eye rescues fleeing people from unseaworthy boats in the Mediterranean. They look for helpless people in distress at sea, and fight against the daily loss of life there. Their activity is an answer to the failed migration policies of the European Union, which is denying its responsibility for the thousands of deaths in its immediate proximity.
Together we are offering a public lecture on 20.08.2024 in which we would like to draw attention to how Racism and Eurocentrism can manifest themselves in support work – especially in sea rescue. We will examine the current effects of these historically grown power structures and provide impulses for thought to counter them, examine the origins and current effects of these issues and discuss ways to help without marginalizing others.
Join us to reflect on our personal attitudes and understand the positive impact on supported communities!
